Niels Heuer - DigiRehab

Who are you and what do you do at DigiRehab? My name is Niels Heuer, and I am the co-founder and CEO of DigiRehab A/S in Denmark. For more than ten years, I have been working with a group of physiotherapists and sports scientists to develop solutions for creating individually tailored exercises and customized training programs for various target groups. In particular, we have developed solutions for seniors receiving home care or living in nursing homes to support both those receiving care and their caregivers. Our vision is to promote physical exercise for everyone, as it is never too late to start targeted training. Why are we collaborating with the Korian Foundation on this project? By using our DigiRehab solution, caregivers and patients grow closer, following the motto "Together / For Each Other." Studies in Denmark have shown that by exercising with patients, caregivers indirectly become fitter themselves and also learn more about movement and mobility. With this project, we want to directly address employees and motivate them to take an active role in their own health by offering an easily accessible solution. Direct collaboration with the Korian facilities allows us to involve management and staff in the development process, enabling us to create the most suitable program possible. What are the most important aspects and goals of the program from your perspective? For us, it's crucial to understand the employees' perspective and incorporate it into the program design from the outset. This requires acknowledging the specific needs of the nursing profession and developing targeted, rather than broadly generalized, offerings. Our aim is to create a truly effective program that combines exercise, nutrition, and mental health, particularly for employees who have previously had little to no opportunity to actively manage their health. Regular, small-scale activities and a shift in mindset regarding health are, in our view, the most important objectives.

Astrid Salomon - mkk – my health insurance company

Who are you and what do you do at mkk – my health insurance company? My name is Astrid Salomon, and I work at mkk as a consultant for prevention. Promoting health within the framework of legal regulations has been my passion for many years. My focus is always on the benefit for people: How effective are the measures, how helpful are they, and what can be improved? There are numerous legal options for promoting health, but in my view, these are still underutilized.

Why are we collaborating with the Korian Foundation on this project?

DigiRehab's experience in digital health promotion from Denmark impressed us from the very beginning. We were particularly enthusiastic about their employee-centric approach and the involvement of staff in the project from the outset. After all, only they truly know their needs and, more importantly, what is realistic in their daily work. Through the collaboration between the Korian Foundation, DigiRehab GmbH, and us at mkk – meine Krankenkasse (my health insurance company), we anticipate a significantly more tailored and effective digital tool than currently available on the market. What do you consider the most important aspects and goals of the program? In Germany, we have less of a knowledge problem and more of an implementation problem. Therefore, it is crucial to emphasize motivation and communication, as this program focuses on. The most important approach, in my view, is to repeatedly introduce the topic of health in very small steps to encourage employees to take proactive steps for themselves and their health.

Carola Seeberger - Korian Deutschland AG

Carola Seeberger, regional manager of Korian in North Rhine-Westphalia, also supports the Digi Health BGM project, in which four facilities of Korian Deutschland AG located in the NRW region are participating:

Who are you and what do you do at Korian Deutschland AG? I have been working in inpatient care for over 30 years. An important aspect for me has always been, and still is, that our employees and residents are at the heart of everything we do. I am a registered nurse and successfully completed my studies as a certified nursing manager at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. I have been with the company for 17 years and have been managing the North Rhine-Westphalia region as Chief Operating Officer for over seven years. There are 55 locations in the region. What are, in your view, the most important aspects and goals of the program? The project is an opportunity for employees and the company as a whole to promote and maintain the health of everyone working for the company. Employees are at the center of this and are actively involved in the development of software for workplace health management. For me, as Chief Operating Officer, this represents a criterion of our duty of care towards our employees and is a social responsibility.
