Elisabeth Scharfenberg

For Elisabeth Scharfenberg, nursing care is and always has been one of the great issues of the future. She was a member of the German Bundestag from 2005 to 2017 and during this time was strongly involved in nursing matters.

During three legislative periods working as spokesperson for care and old-age policy for the Bündnis 90/Die Grünen parliamentary group in the Bundestag, Elisabeth Scharfenberg

campaigned for a self-determined and dignified life for the elderly and those in need of care, as well as for higher self-esteem, better salaries and working conditions for care workers. Through her previous work as a social worker, she gained a deep insight into the reality of the lives of many people for whom care had often played a major role.

Elisabeth Scharfenberg is convinced that, although politics needs a good measure of stability it also thrives on change, so she did not run again for the Bundestag elections in autumn 2017. After two years of freelance work in Team Scharfenberg GmbH, she took over the management of the Korian Foundation for Care and Aging with Dignity in January 2020.

Elisabeth Scharfenberg was born on 14 March 1963 in Rüsselsheim. She is married and has four adult daughters and three grandchildren.
