German Care Award: Winners of the Korian Foundation Award for Diversity and Respect in Care honoured
Last night, the Korian Foundation Award for Diversity and Respect in Care was granted for the first time: Immanuel Seniorenzentrum Schöneberg in Berlin received the award for its commitment to LGBTI* culturally sensitive care. The prize was awarded as the German Care Award in the Diversity and Respect category during the German Care Day.
Herbert Blum, Managing Director of Immanuel Miteinander Leben GmbH, provider of Immanuel Seniorenzentrum Schöneberg: "I am thrilled that Immanuel Seniorenzentrum Schöneberg has received the Korian Foundation Award for Diversity and Respect in Care. As a facility run by a free church, we are sending a clear signal. I am very grateful to the staff of the Seniorenzentrum Schöneberg, especially to the facility manager Ralf Schäfer, that diversity and respect are not only talked about, but lived. As Immanuel Miteinander Leben GmbH, we will continue on the path we have chosen."
With the award, the Korian Foundation for Care and Ageing with dignity wants to focus on the topic of diversity and encourage the care sector, institutions and companies to provide diversity-sensitive care in their daily care work.
"We live in a diverse society, but this fundamental reality of our society is not always and everywhere reflected in daily work, in interaction. But when we talk about respect in care, the topic of diversity must also always be present. This needs a lot of communication and skills. Therefore, it is great when institutions like the Immanuel Seniorenzentrum Schöneberg set out on this path. It may not always be easy, but it is always worthwhile," says Elisabeth Scharfenberg, director of the Korian Foundation.
In addition to the trophy, there was also 2,000 euros in prize money, which Immanuel Miteinander Leben intends to invest in diversity training for its staff in its other institutions.
